“The reports of my death are greatly exagerated”

Mark Twain had a certain flair for words. Like Mr. Twain, the Tea Party was reported dead. As yesterday’s Republican primary in Indiana showed, the reports of the Tea Party’s demise are greatly exaggerated. Tea Party supported challenger Richard Mourdock soundly defeated longtime Senate veteran Richard Lugar by more than 20 points. All in all, it was a very bad day for Mr. Obama, the Democrats in general, and their union controllers. Continue reading

Liberals Are Children

That’s right, liberals are children. They aren’t “like” children, they are children. It’s not an analogy. Liberals, particularly the activists and ideologues, display all the characteristics and behaviors of children and early adolescents. Liberals use short, simple slogans in place of reasoned arguments. Liberals can’t understand or accept that someone could possibly disagree with them, so they irrationally ascribe absurd motives to others. When faced with facts and reasoning, liberals resort to name-calling and tantrums. Continue reading

Keep Your Laws Off My Body! Really?

Tags

On my daily commute, I regularly see a version of this bumper sticker. Not surprisingly, it’s on a car driven by an aging baby-boomer, hippie, feminist. I doubt that she’s ever actually thought about what it would really mean if we actually granted her wish. Of course, she’s showing her support for unrestricted abortion on demand, but there are a lot of other laws on her body and everyone else’s.

First, we’ll need to repeal all the drug laws. After all, it’s my body. Who are you to tell me what I can or can’t put in it? I wonder how many liberals can see the hypocrisy in wanting to legalize marijuana and ban Happy Meals. Continue reading

More deceit from Justices Abrahamson and Bradley

Tags

The Madison State Urinal, I mean Journal, is reporting that the Wisconsin Supreme Court has summarily rejected a series of so-called “civility proposals” disingenuously proposed by Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson in what can only be described generously as a patently dishonest public relations stunt. Abrahamson was joined by only one other justice in votes on any of her proposals. Continue reading

Social Security Trust Fund Restoration Act

Liberals understand incremental change. Obamacare didn’t create nationalized healthcare, but it created the framework for it and will create a regulatory system to distort the health insurance market to the point that private health insurance, whether or not “provided” by an employer, will be economically unviable. That’s why it’s so important to block its implementation and ultimately repeal it and replace it with a system that allows market incentives to control costs. So what does this have to do with Social Security?

The current framework for Social Security forces all SS tax revenue to be transferred to the Treasury. By creating the current debt “crisis,” President Obama inadvertently revealed that Social Security doesn’t have any money despite the massive “balance” in its so-called trust fund. Incremental changes must be made to the system before real reform can happen. The following outline for a Social Security Trust Fund Restoration Act is meant to be a first step in that direction. In the spirit of Rahm “Alinsky” Emanuel, we don’t want to let the President’s fabricated crisis “go to waste.”

America Held Hostage–the Debt Limit “Crisis”

Tags

The predictable left-stream media blitz about Republicans and the Tea Party holding America “hostage” is in full force. As is usual with left-stream media, Truth is the first victim. The fact is that House Republicans passed a debt ceiling increase. It is Senate Democrats and Obama who refuse to take action on the debt ceiling unless their demands for tax increases are met. If we are “hostages,” the hostage-takers are Barack Obama and Harry Reid.

This is what real Leadership looks like

Mr. Obama’s disgraceful speech on the “Arab Spring” displayed incredible ignorance of the reality of Israel’s current situation, a view of middle eastern “history” completing devoid of factual truth, and a faith in Palestinian good will that defies rational explanation. In stark contrast to Mr. Obama, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a joint session of Congress demonstrated true leadership and statesmanship by realistically assessing the history of Israel’s relationship with its Arab neighbors, the current situation in Israel, and Palestinian desires for genocide over anything vaguely resembling peace with a Jewish state in the Jewish homeland.

“Tax the Rich!”

Tags

That’s the bureaucrat-unionista solution for all our fiscal problems. Like most populist solutions, it’s short, simple, and wrong! In other words, it’s a perfect fit for the Liberal-Regressive psyche (see The Progressive Übermensch for a discussion of the Regressive mindset). Typical of Liberalism, it is based on false assumptions (or outright lies)–primarily that the rich aren’t being taxed and that they have enough money to pay all our bills.

The standard conservative response is to point out that we already do tax the rich. Whether that response is correct depends in large part on how you define “the rich.” As is usually the case with liberal-regressives, they don’t even know what they mean by the term. “Tax” is usually a reference to the income tax, individual or corporate. “Rich” is ambiguous at best. Since they’re talking about income taxes, it is natural to assume that “rich” means “high-income.” However, when they talk about the rich, they seem to be referring to people who don’t “work” (a Marxist term based on lies) at all; they merely take and sit around counting their wealth.
