The Progressive Übermensch

It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to buy a liberal bumper sticker and remove all doubt. I saw this bumper sticker on a car recently. It is an obvious reference to John Adam’s Wealth of Nations and the Invisible Hand. It is also typical of the simplistic thinking underlying the entire spectrum of liberalism. It should go without saying that it is also entirely wrong.

The end of a publicity stunt overshadows another pseudo-conservative (and religious bigot)

"Mr. Obama, I quit!"

News outlets are reporting that Donald Trump has stated that he will not run for the Republican presidential nomination. I suppose it’s possible that the Donald has looked at some polling numbers and decided he’s got no chance to win the nomination, or that he’s decided against trying to self-finance a campaign for a job involving a large reduction in pay. However, I think it far more reasonable to conclude that his “campaigning” was solely for the purpose of gaining publicity all along.

The Shot Heard ’round the World

Tags

, ,

Why did the American colonies fight The Revolutionary War?  We were all taught phrases like “taxation without representation” as the driving cause of The Revolution.  When I was a child, we were also taught with animation and song that “The shot heard ’round the world was the start of The Revolution.”

What they didn’t spend a lot of time explaining is why the shot heard ’round the world was fired.  It was fired at a colonial militiaman defending a fundamental right, and it had nothing at all whatsoever to do with taxation.  British forces were marching to seize weapons in an armory.  Not a government armory, but an armory filled with weapons owned in common by the people, in other words, privately owned weapons.  That’s right, King George was the original “gun grabber” and it was resistance to this affront, not taxation or the Intolerable Acts, that pushed the colonists from resistance and protest to taking up arms in revolution against the Crown and a country to which they had always been fiercely loyal.

Liberal bigotry and stupidity on display

Last Friday, Stu Levitan posted the following comment regarding a hearing on a proposed Concealed-Carry law:

I think it would be fun to have 2 or 3 dangerous-looking black guys testify next week in support of concealed carry. The more gang-banger the better. Let the committee know EXACTLY who they’ll be letting carry guns.

Although the statement is blatantly racist, it actually reveals deep-seated bigotry of a different sort. Just as racism is based in part on false stereotypes on racial groups, this comment is based on a false stereotype about conservatives and Republicans–that they are racists. The Left has long used its hold on popular culture and media to perpetuate false stereotypes. They used to denigrate the intelligence and abilities of minorities. Now they prefer to attack traditional families and American values. I don’t know Mr. Levitan, but it is obvious from his statement that he is an ignorant bigot.

The Obamatorium, Obama’s War on Domestic Energy

The Heritage Foundation and the Institute for Energy Research have posted a revealing video about the economic harm that the Obama administration is causing with its War on Domestic Energy.  Many Gulf Coast companies are shrinking or dying because of the Permitorium on offshore drilling.  Seahawk Drilling used to own and operate shallow-water oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.  Now they’re bankrupt and 632 people are out of work.  In the video, Seahawk Drilling CEO Randall Stilley describes how the drilling permit moratorium is putting companies out of business and innocent people out of work.

A picture of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed shown in a...

Image via Wikipedia

Earlier today, Mr. Obama visited Ground Zero in New York city for the first time since his inauguration, and met with a small group of family members of 9/11 victims.  Fortunately for him, and despite the best efforts of his administration and Justice Department, his visit was not marred by an ongoing civilian criminal trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed or any other GITMO detainees.  For the time being, Ground Zero is also not the sight of a mosque essentially in tribute to the 9/11 hijackers, but that could change.

Is bin Laden the muslim Elvis?

“Marley was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. Scrooge signed it. And Scrooge’s name was good upon ‘Change, for anything he chose to put his hand to. Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail.”

Congratulations to everyone involved with finding and eliminating bin Laden, from the brave men who went in and took him out to President Obama!  Congratulations also go to President Bush and Vice President Cheney for instituting the programs and policies that helped provide the intelligence leads to find bin Laden.

bin Laden is dead:to begin with.  There is no doubt whatever about that.  The witness of his death are the Navy Seals and CIA operatives who killed him.  It is their word that I believe and their word is all that I need!  In other words, the Truthers can just crawl back into whatever holes they crawled out of!

Is Trump a Bloomberg Republican?

Tags

, ,

A “Bloomberg Republican” is a Democrat who runs as a Republican because it gives him an easier path to the general election.  I coined the term based on Michael Bloomberg, a lifelong Democrat who ran for Mayor of New York City as a Republican in 2001.  Incumbent Mayor Rudy Giuliani was leaving due to term limits and the Republican primary offered an easier path to the general election, and ultimate victory, than entering a crowded Democrat primary field that ultimately failed to produce a winner requiring a primary runoff election.  Bloomberg eventually left the Republican party, which he was never a part of philosophically, over policy differences–not surprising for a previously lifelong Democrat–and ran for reelection as an independent.

"Mr. Obama, you're fired!"

There are a lot of theories about the motives and intentions of Presidential hopeful (or noisemaker), real estate mogul, and reality TV star Donald Trump.  Trump, formerly a registered Democrat, is indicating that he will run as a Republican.  Theories range from relatively innocuous (a publicity stunt to promote The Apprentice) to straight-forward (frustration with Obama and Democrats) to conspiratorial (an orchestrated effort by pro-Obama forces to discredit and/or sabotage the Republican nomination process).  He has stated that he will make an announcement in the Finale of The Apprentice (maybe he’ll look into the camera and say “Mr. Obama, you’re fired!”).  On the other hand, there are reasons to believe he’s serious about running; he’s certainly got the ego for it.  I don’t pretend to know the answer, but I’d like to toss out another theory that I find far more plausible than conspiracy theories–Donald Trump is another Bloomberg Republican.  In other words, he wants to challenge Mr. Obama because he’s dissatisfied with administration, but doesn’t want to launch a primary challenge against an incumbent.

On Diversity and Tolerance

Tags

, , , ,

Liberals profess to value Diversity and Tolerance.  They assert that diversity is wonderful because it is important to have input from people with different backgrounds, viewpoints, and ideas.  I have no problem with that reasoning.  Unfortunately, it bears little relationship to the type of diversity valued by liberals.  To put it bluntly, liberal diversity allows only differences in skin pigment and genitalia.  Anyone straying from liberal orthodoxy must be discredited and destroyed, especially if they are female and/or a minority who does not accept or share the views assigned to them by the liberal elite (e.g., Clarence Thomas, Condoleezza Rice, Walter E. Williams, Miguel Estrada, etc.).   There is no one more intolerant than a liberal faced with opposition to his beliefs, which opposition they conveniently label as “intolerance.”  To achieve the potential benefits of diversity, it is essential that you have diversity of beliefs, values, experiences, and most importantly ideas.  Liberalism absolutely refuses to accept ideological diversity.

Kloppenburg’s hand recount & the inevitable legal attacks

Tags

, , , ,

JoAnne Kloppenburg, not surprisingly, demanded a hand recount.  This will make it possible for Unionista minions, which is an apt description of Kloppenburg (aka the Wicked Witch of Wisconsin) herself, to raise numerous objections to individual ballots.  Thus, the start of the recount signals the approach of numerous legal challenges requiring an army of lawyers.  As you can see from the video clip linked below, the lawyer-minions have already been dispatched.
